January is in full swing now and it might be you started off the month full of good intentions of sticking to your New Years Resolutions. Only now, the weather is a bit rubbish, Christmas seems like a lifetime ago and you just need something to look forward to. Your resolution is starting to waiver.

Here's my 5 ways of sticking to your New Years Resolutions.

1. Set Specific and Achievable Goals

  • Break big resolutions into smaller, actionable steps. For example, instead of saying "Get fit," aim for "Exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes."

  • Make sure your goals are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

2. Track Your Progress

  • Keep a journal, use an app, or create a checklist to track your progress. Visualizing your achievements can be motivating.

  • Celebrate small wins along the way to stay motivated.

3. Build Accountability

  • Share your goals with a friend or join a community with similar resolutions.

  • Consider finding a resolution buddy who can support and encourage you, and hold you accountable.

4. Anticipate Challenges and Plan for Them

  • Identify potential obstacles and think of solutions in advance. For example, if you’re trying to eat healthier, prepare meals ahead of time to avoid fast food.

  • Focus on progress, not perfection, and forgive yourself if you slip up.

5. Create New Habits, Not Just Goals

  • Tie your resolutions to existing habits. For example, pair "drink more water" with "have a glass of water before every meal."

  • Consistency is key—aim for small, daily actions to build sustainable habits over time.

How are you getting on with your resolutions?
