It would be easy to dismiss a romantic comedy as just a "chick flick", but they are one of the most popular and relatable film genres, and lets face it who doesn't love snuggling up on the sofa with a box of chocolates and a glass of wine to watch one? Here's my top 5 rom-coms.

"While you Were Sleeping" (1995) Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman star in this film about a lady who works in the ticket booth of a Chicago train station. Every day she sees a man she has a secret crush on, he never acknowledges her. One day he falls onto the tracks and she rescuses him. In a case of mistaken identity, his family end up thinking she's his fiancé.

I think this film, is funny, endearing and feels like a hug in a film.

"Notting Hill" (1999)

A charming tale of a London bookstore owner (Hugh Grant) who unexpectedly falls in love with a famous American actress (Julia Roberts). Set against the colorful backdrop of Portobello Road, it's a delightful blend of romance and comedy.

"Bridget Jones Diary" (2001)

Renee Zelweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant bring to life, Helen Fielding's best-selling book, which was based on her newspaper column. Bridget Jones is a perpetually single thirty-something living in London, with a group of close friends, a love of Chardonnay and rubbish love life. Turns out nice boys do kiss like that!

"Crazy Rich Asians" (2018)

This is one of my absolute faviurites. It's all about Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she discovers her boyfriend Nick Young (Henry Golding) is from an incredibly wealthy Singaporean family, leading to cultural clashes and romantic challenges. It's very funny in places and if you've ever felt the wrath of a mother-in-laws disapproval, you'll love it.

"Blended" (2014)

OK, so I know this might seem like a weird choice, but I love this film. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler find themselves on a really bad blind date. After their friends split up, they then end up on holiday together at a resort for families.

I personally think this film is really sweet and funny and you can never go wrong with a Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler film.
