It's Not All Champagne and Theatre Trips

I know I'm misquoting the great Lisa Vanderpump, one of the greatest real housewives to ever grace the franchise with her Christian Louboutin heels and the Birkin bag that us mere mortals would have to go on the waiting list to get on the waiting list for the bag, but my weekend really was one of two halves. But my weekend wasn't all champagne and theatre trips.
My sister Lucy and I decided that we would do dry-ish January and in a bid to actually take being a Slimming World member seriously for a change, we decided that we would stick to plan and not drink until we went on a pre-arranged trip to London.
From the 1st to the 19th January, we have been little babby angels and as a result the scales have reflected that accordingly. Go Team Trinder.
The weekend in London has been planned for ages, we decided we would stay in our favourite hotel and go and see our favourite musical "Six". This weekend was the sixth time we have seen "Six" and that needed celebrating.
I love "Six" for many reasons. Firstly it's about the wives of Henry 8th and I am a HUGE Tudor geek, I even have two Henrys on my desk.

Secondly the soundtrack is just incredible, every song is just on point. Thirdly it's an empowering show, I defy anyone to leave the theatre after seeing it and not feel like they could take on the world and finally it's unashamedly itself and everyone is included in the Queendom.
Lucy and I had planned that we would celebrate breaking dry-ish January when we got to the hotel and that's what we did. That glass of champagne was just . In fact as we sat there enjoying it, we ended up chatting to the couple sat next to us, they were off to see "Plaza Suite" with Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, which me and Lucy see in a couple of weeks. This led to us chatting about love of SJP and all things "Sex and the City" and then we eventually ended up nattering about true crime and serial killers.... it was quite the convo, we literally went from Birkins to Bundy.
We then saw the tea time performance of "Six", ended up chatting to a lady and her daughter about which one was our favourite wife. We all agreed on Anne Boleyn. "Her sleeves may be green, but her lipstick's red", which might just be one of the best lines ever in a song and Owen who was in the "Mamma Mia, I Have a Dream" show served us a glass of red and we had a chat with him.
After that it was cocktails, (something blue, smingey and probably not in the Slimming World book) and dinner.

It was a fab Saturday.
On the Sunday as we travelled to the train station to come home, our friend Vicky, who'd been looking after the Furry Ts phoned to say that she'd found Lucy's cat Nelly and she thought she might have had a stroke. The vet said she hadn't, but she was very poorly and although it was Nelly's time, we could wait until Monday.
Goodness knows what the other people on the train thought as Lucy and I occasionally burst into spontaneous tears on the journey. When we got home, we did all of Nelly's favourite things, gave her a big bowl of tuna, put her teepee bed near the fire and just hung out . I think the other Furry Ts knew as they were really gentle around her and didn't try and budge her away from the fire, which in this house is prime real estate!
On Monday, we headed to the vets, awash with snot and tears and we said our final goodbyes. As always the staff at Vets for Pets in Mansfield were very kind and understanding and made Nelly's final moments very peaceful and were on hand with tissues for us.
Nelly made it to the ripe old age of 18 and although she was Lucy's cat, she's part of our Furry T gang and we all adored the bones of her. She was a little sassy pants, who would clout Cyril on the nose when he was a puppy whether he'd done anything wrong or not (he still has the scar) She ruled my cat Pudding with an iron rod and yet he idolised her and I know will be sat waiting for her.
Plus, and I think this is the hardest thing, Nelly was the last of the Furry Ts who knew mum, dad and gran. Everyone else came along after mum and gran and some after dad. I like to think that on the plus side, that means that there were a lot of people waiting for Nelly in the afterlife to give her huge cuddles and fill her full of meat sticks and tuna.
This weekend really was one of contrast!

Life lived the Trinder way. Full of love laughter and sometimes tears, feeling every momentous moment. ❤️
As always such a read......with excitement, fun and natter. With a sad( but having had pets) uplifting and beautiful end. I am blubbing but smiling too, imagining Nelly and Pudding catching up 💖💖
